Augmented Reality LinkThis antique handwoven carpet, dating back approximately 40 years, is a distinguished example of rural weaving from Nahavand, preserving the authenticity of its design and the indigenous spirit of the region. Measuring 217 × 145 cm with a surface area of 3.15 square meters, it is well suited for living spaces or medium-sized rooms. The medallion-based structure, composed of orderly geometric motifs, creates a balanced and visually engaging composition that expands outward from the center, naturally guiding the viewer’s eye across the surface. With its detailed and narrative-driven structure, this carpet stands as a representative example of rural weavings from western Iran, where animal motifs play a prominent role. At the lower section, the figure of a lion appears as a symbol of power, protection, and courage, rendered in a simplified geometric language and placed with symbolic intent. Throughout the field, various birds appear in different postures—some perched, others in motion—bringing vitality and movement to the composition. Additional animal figures further evoke the rural ecosystem and the weaver’s mythological perception of the surrounding natural world. Set against a dark, deep-toned background, these motifs harmonize with warm, earthy colors. The border, repeating animal and geometric motifs, provides a cohesive frame for the visual narrative, transforming the carpet into a storytelling, authentic, and meaning-rich piece. The deep navy ground offers a calm and dignified backdrop, while the cream-colored border creates a gentle contrast that clearly defines the composition.
